Old colonial hotel originally built as a sumptuous residence about 150 years ago, furnished with many original antique furniture, surrounded by a splendid tropical garden with many plants and flowers. Closenberg is a Colonial Hotel situated in Galle, with large spacious halls and long Verandahs adorned with antique furniture. High ceilings resting on tall round columns and large louvered Teak doors set in arched doorways permits the flow of cool air. Terraced gardens at different levels surround the hotel which is situated in the Galle harbour, one of the best locations in Sri Lanka. The architecture is in keeping with the Dutch heritage of Sri Lanka and the hotel is one of the select few hotels to successfully preserve the rich colonial past of Galle.
