Sri Lanka has always been a popular tourist destination, offering a diverse range of sights, sounds and flavors from the tropical jungles and misty mountains of the central highlands. Much of the island’s beauty is bypassed because of the long journeys and congested routes often associated with internal travel. Sri Lanka Airlines has introduces the Air Taxi service with the intent of making all corners of our beautiful island accessible to tourist and locals alike.

Sri Lanka is a small country but it is tortuously slow to navigate. The average speed for a car is around 35km per hour meaning that even short journeys take a long time. If you want to cut down on transfer times then the best option is to charter a private helicopter. Every charter is unique and is priced according to your chosen itinerary and aircraft type.

As the waterways, lakes and domestic airstrips already exist; these facilities can be used to host the Air Taxi operations with minimal development and associated costs. Initial points of operation will be Kandy, Koggala, Bentota, Trincomalee, Anuradhapura, Hingurakgoda, Wirawila and Ampara. Passengers originating from Colombo city or its suburbs will have the option of requesting for flights out of Ratmalana or Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at Colombo to the above destinations.

Experience Sri Lanka is pleased to be able to organize helicopter transfers through Deccan Aviation, one of Asia's most trusted and reliable operators. Highly skilled and experienced pilots operate a fleet of Bell Jet Ranger Helicopters to destinations across the country. Deccan Aviation Lanka is the holder of the only helicopter operator¹s license in Sri Lanka. They have been in operation since 2004 and manage a fleet of Bell 206 B3 Jet Ranger helicopters. These are based at Ratmalana Airport, just south of Colombo’s city centre and they can fly direct to the grounds of your hotel (with the exception of restricted areas in the far north and east). Each helicopter can accommodate a maximum of four passengers. The company is a unit of the region’s largest helicopter operator Deccan Aviation India and the parent company of Indian airline Air Deccan. Deccan’s operational crew is highly experienced. They possess a valid Air Operator Certificate issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka and follow safety procedures which are above the industry standard.

Journeys can be arranged to and from almost any location within Sri Lanka. This kind of mobility and flexibility comes at a price - this is the most expensive method of travel available. However, no other mode can offer such speed, flexibility and comfort. Traversing the skies at low altitude you will have an unrivalled view of the scenic landscape below. Almost any destination can be reached within an hour, and the aircraft can be chartered to wait for you if you want to indulge in multi-destination sightseeing and hopping.
